Billy Love Melton, Sr. of 502 4th Street in Chester passed away April 10, 2013. He was the husband of Bertie Varnadore Melton and the son of the late Will and Leona Love Melton. He was retired from Springs Industries, Eureka Plant. He was a former Boy Scout leader and an avid fisherman.
He is also survived by three sons, Billy Melton, Jr., Larry E. (Debbie) Melton, Kenneth W. Melton, all of Chester; two brothers, Robert H. Melton of Chester and John W. Melton of Blackstock; seven sisters, Nannie Peay of Chester, Ethel Walls of Baltimore, Md., Lillie Friendly of Chester, Dorothy Welchel of Blackstock, Ruby Melton of Clinton, Margaret Mobley of Chester and Judy Hefner of Chester.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Will H. and Odell Melton; two sisters Mary Lee Peay and Frances Austin.
The funeral for Mr. Melton will be conducted by Rev. Melvin Pressley at 2:00p.m., Friday at Chester First Free Will Baptist Church. The family will receive friends in the church sanctuary prior to the service from 1:00 to 1:50p.m. Mr. Melton will be laid to rest in Evergreen Cemetery. The family is gathering at 502 4th Street in Chester.
