It is with deep sorrow that the Carter and Culp families announce the death of Ms. Carol Carter, 88. Ms. Carter entered into rest on Tuesday, November 7, 2023. The Directors of Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home are caring for the family. A funeral service to honor her life will be held at 3 o'clock on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Bishopville with The Rev. Denise Seymour officiating. The family will receive friends at a reception in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service. A burial will be held at 11 o'clock on Thursday, November 30, 2023, in Evergreen Cemetery, 141 Cemetery Street, Chester, SC, with the assistance of the Directors of Pollard Funeral Home, 115 York Street, Chester, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her honor to Bethlehem United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 167, Bishopville, SC 29010. Ms. Carter was born in Chicago, Illinois, on January 12, 1935, the daughter of the late Perry True Carter and the late Sara Kirkpatrick Carter. For 30 years, Carol taught school in Virginia, Connecticut, and Raleigh, North Carolina, where she was Teacher of the Year in 1968. Carol was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir and had perfect attendance in Sunday School for more than 22 years.
