IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charles Douglas
Collins
June 19, 1945 – February 11, 2025
Charles Douglas Collins, 79, of Chester passed away peacefully in his home on February 11, 2025. He was the widower of Mary Alice Collins and the son of the late Fletcher and Ada McCraw Collins. Charley is described by many as "the best man I've ever met".
Charley, alongside his late wife of 61 years, Mary Collins, was the proud owner of the Bantam Chef for many many years. Although Charley was both an avid fisherman and a pool shark, his kindness, sense of humor, and complete altruism are the things for which he will be most remembered.
He is survived by his son, Craig Collins (Jessie), whom he loved deeply; his niece Morgan whom he raised as his own daughter; his nephew, Josh Greene (Kim), with whom he had many adventures, and his niece, Melanie Greene, with whom he had a special bond. He is also survived by his dear brother, Bobby Collins (Shirley) and brother-in-law, George Greene and many many nieces and nephews he cherished deeply. Along with his wife, Charles was preceded in death by his daughter, Frankie Collins; brother, Hoyle Collins; and sisters, Betty Ezell, Rachel Ross, Sylvia Fargarson, and Dorothy Atkins.
Visitation will be held 1:00-2:00 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 22, at Chester First Church of the Nazarene. Pastor Jon Parrish will conduct the memorial service at 2:00 p.m.
Pollard Funeral Home is serving the family.
