David E. Melton, 42, formerly of Chester passed away Monday in Rutherford Regional Hospital. He is the son of Noah Smith, Jr. (Beckie) and the late Tammy Melton Lee. David is also survived by two sons, D.J. Melton and Triston Marso both of Forest City, NC; brothers, Mike Levister (Katie) of Morganton, NC, Noah Smith, III, Josh Smith, Jackson Smith all of Chester, Tristan Disanto of Rock Hill; sisters, Candace Smith of Camden and Rebeka Smith of Chester; grandmothers, Vera Smith and Mary Smith of Chester; numerous aunt, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; and best friend, Tom Gunter. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Harris Smith, Johnny Melton, Patricia A. Melton; aunt, Judy Hefner; great grandfather, Tom Smith.

David was a loving father, a beloved brother, a loving son who never let anyone be without a smile. He was the family comedian and peace maker. He loved playing video games and was a big kid at heart. He will greatly missed by many.

The gathering of friends and family will be 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Pollard Funeral Home. The speaker will be Mr. Jackson Smith.
