Dixie Roberts

Mary Elizabeth Dixie Roberts (Dixie Darling), age 27, of Chester completed her life's journey on October 8, 2016 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

Visitation will be, 5 -7 p.m. Monday at Pollard Funeral Home. The funeral will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Chester Freedom Ministries and the burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Her cousins will serve as pallbearers. The family is gathering at 1078 Pinckney Road in Chester.

Dixie was the daughter of Mary Kathryn "Kathy" Welch Roberts of the home and the late Wayne D. Roberts, Sr.; she is also survived by her brother, Wayne D. Roberts, Jr. of Chester a very special aunt and uncle, Teresa and Reverend Dale Welch of Chester and her aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, lifelong friends and PeeWee, her Chihuahua, all of whom she loved and enjoyed being around.   She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Vincent and Mary Welch, Sr., Lonnie W. and Mazie E. Roberts.

Dixie was of the Baptist faith, a graduating member of the 2008 class of Chester High School where she was a member of the Jr. Civitan Club, The Beta Club, a Junior Marshal, and the 2008 Prom Queen. She attended USC Lancaster and she was a huge Gamecock fan. She enjoyed painting and making video presentation of weddings and other events for her friends. Her smile was ever-present and she wanted to never be defined by her disability but by her abilities. She was a member of the Spinal Cord Injury Association and never let the difficulties of life stand in her way.
