Edgar (Ed) Weldon Grant, 86, was called home to be with the Lord on February 12, 2015 at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill, SC. He was born on September 1st, 1928 in Chester, SC, the son of the late Ainsley Weldon and Lucille Hudson Grant.

Ed was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He served his country from 1951 to 1956 with the US Army where he chose his profession as a mechanic. Ed, and his wife Nancy, moved to Charlotte, NC in the early 1950's. Ed became a successful entrepreneur for 38 years, the owner of Ed Grant Alignment and Tire. He had many accomplishments and personal achievements to include: founding father and volunteer of the Steele Creek Volunteer Fire Department - being raised as a Master Mason in Sandy River Lodge No. 207 A.F.M— later becoming charter member and past Master of Steele Creek Lodge No. 737. Ed was also an Oasis Shriner of Charlotte, NC where he was a Tripster and took many children to the Shriners Children's Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Ed was a loyal member of Steele Creek Presbyterian Church for over 60 years. He left many gifts behind to his family and friends—admirable qualities such as honesty, loyalty, dignity, integrity, respect, the ability to work hard, and—most importantly—the gift of pure and unconditional love.

Ed is survived by his oldest daughter, Susan Grant Harper and husband Bobby of York, SC; his youngest daughter Sandi Grant Green and husband Zeb of Charlotte, NC; his grandchildren April Campbell, Michael Green and wife Jessie, Jessica Green and boyfriend Brandon Johnson; three great-grandchildren Karsen, Carter, and Jack Campbell. Surviving brother is Ainsley Smith Grant and wife Sarah of Chester, SC; and sister-in-law Joyce Blackmon Grant of Jackson, SC.
