Frank Thomas, age 89, died May 8, 2017 at his home while surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Thomas was the son of the late Calvin M. and Annette Gregory Thomas, Sr. and the husband of Melba Hampton Thomas of the home, to whom he was married 68 years. He was a lifelong cattle farmer in Chester County and he retired from SCDOT. Mr. Thomas was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church and he was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He loved hunting, fishing and gardening.
He is also survived by one son, Scott Thomas (Susan); one brother, Johnny H. Thomas; three grand-children, Kelly Fowler (Jamie), Grant Thomas and Gus Thomas; one great-grand-child, Ava Grace Fowler all of Chester.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Marion Thomas, Alvin Thomas, Sr., and Calvin Thomas, Jr.
The funeral service for Mr. Thomas will be held 5p.m. Wednesday at New Hope United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Reverend Paige Wheeler, Mr. Mark Wyatt. The burial will be in the church cemetery. After the burial the family will return to the fellowship hall to greet friends.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to Hospice Care of SC, 173 Columbia Street, Chester, SC 29706.
The family is gathering at 2086 Pinckney Road.
