Reverend Irene Smith Jordan, age 86, of 1616 Great Falls Hwy., went to be with her Lord on August 4, 2014. She was the widow of the late Rev. Walter "Bill" Jordan and she was born in Great Falls to the late Thomas Patton and Ruby Pearl Goddard Smith. Rev. Jordan was in evangelistic work for many years. She ministered with her husband Bill at Community Chapel Church in Chester.
Having been seriously ill before beginning her ministry, she turned to God for help. He wonderfully healed her and blessed her with a long life.
Rev. Jordan is survived by her daughter Linda Carol Jordan Sloan; three granddaughters, Rochelle S. Brantley (Chuck), Jill S. Catledge (Ronnie) all of Chester, April S. Singley (Tom Hartesty) of New London Ohio; great-grandchildren, David Brantley, Jessica Brantley, Corey Catledge, Brandi Catledge, Michael Singley, and Ryan Singley; one great-great-grandson Michael Singley; brothers, Huey Smith, Thomas Smith, Jr., Kenneth Smith, Robert Smith; sisters, Shirley Smith, Brenda Smith. She was preceded in death by brothers, Byrl, Donald and Doyle Smith; sisters, Jerlen Smith, Opal Smith, Doris Lear, and Patricia Stewart.
The visitation for Rev. Jordan will be Thursday 6 to 8p.m. at Pollard Funeral Home and at other times at her home. The funeral will be held 4p.m. Friday at Outpouring Ministries, 508 Fifth th St, Chester, SC 29706 . The ministers will be Reverends Jack Howard and David Levister. The burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
