James Cox Grant, age 83, of Memphis, Tennessee and formerly of Chester, SC, passed away at his home on November 23, 2015.
Mr. Grant was the husband of Vivian Strickland Grant of the home. He is also survived by his son and his wife, Joel and Sonja Grant of Memphis, Tenn.; one grand-daughter, Jessie Nicole Grant on Memphis, Tenn. He was preceded in death by one brother, John Aubrey Grant, Jr. and one sister, Kathryn Grant White. He was the son of the late John A. and Katie Cox Grant.
Mr. Grant was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis and a former member of Chester First Baptist; a member of Sandy River Masonic Lodge 207; and Past Master of J. Wendell Fargis Lodge 356 in Neptune Beach, Florida. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and he served his country in the Korean War. Mr. Grant was retired from a career with the U.S. Department of Defense. He loved woodcrafts, attending Sunday school, and time spent with his family.
Visitation for Mr. Grant will be held 4 until 6p.m. Sunday, November 29, 2015 at Pollard Funeral Home. The graveside funeral service will be conducted by Reverend Clay Waldrip, 2p.m. Monday, at Armenia United Methodist Church Cemetery and concluded with Masonic rites.
