Family, friends, co-workers are mourning the sudden loss of Jerry Lee "Joey" Byars, Jr. He was 56 and the husband of Ruth Ann Holley Byars. He is also survived by his father, Jerry Lee Byars, Sr. of Chester; children, James Curtis Byars (Bree) of Chester, Jerry Lee Byars, III of Virginia, Malinda Maree Byars of York and Amber Lee Byars (Ryan) of Blacksburg, Va; sisters, Laurie Wilson of Chester and Betsy Pullen (Joseph) of Gastonia, NC; grandchildren, Waylon Byars, Jordan Polston, Kash Franklin and Gracie Franklin. He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Allen Byars and brother in law, Tim Wilson.

Jerry was a long-time and faithful employee of Lucas & Sons Exterminating. He was a Christian and he enjoyed smoking meat, old country and classic rock music and being a tattoo artist.

The family is gathering at the home of his father, 114 Oakland Ave in Chester.

The family will greet friends from 1 – 2:00 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20th. in chapel of Pollard Funeral Home. Reverend Kenny Compton will officiate the Celebration of Life beginning at 2:00 p.m.
