Jesse H. Carter, Jr., age 77, of Chester died May 16, 2016 at Chester Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Carter was the son of the late Jesse H. and Madeline Thomas Carter, Sr. He was retired from Omnova Solutions, he also worked for a number of years at William's Chrysler-Plymouth in Rock Hill. He was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church where he was the former chairman of the Cemetery Committee. After his retirement he raised Mashona cattle at his farm in West Chester.

Mr. Carter was first married to the late Iris Vinson Carter and the widower of his second wife, Shirley Petrie Carter.

Mr. Carter is survived by one son and his wife, Dennis and Susan Carter of Powder Springs, Georgia; one brother, Wesley Carter of Chester; two grandchildren, Austin and Megan Carter; companion and dear friend Cynthia J. Fleming.

The memorial service for Mr. Carter will be held at 2p.m. Saturday at New Hope United Methodist Church, 2149 West Chester School Road, Chester, SC 29706. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to New Hope United Methodist Church or Chester Friends of the Animals, PO Box 58, Chester, SC 29706.

​A reception will be held in the social hall following the memorial service.
