Joseph "Joe" Cox, age 86, of 1837 Pressley Road passed away January 25, 2016 in the presence of his loving family.
Mr. Cox was the son of the late William H. and Eliza Johnson Cox; the widower of Dolly Belk Cox.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in the Korean War. He was of the Christian faith and a retired residential building contractor.
Mr. Cox was known as an extremly talented and skilled woodworker. He had an unmatched eye for detail and was well known for the custom and one of a kind beds and furniture he designed and built. He also loved working on the farm and being with his horses and dogs.
He is survived by one son, Gene Cox of Chester; one daughter, Joey Cox Russell of Winder, Georgia; one brother James William Cox; five sisters, Eliza C. Johnson, Annie C. Weddington, Tina C. Ellwood, Clara C. Gardner and Lillie C. Holcombe; and several grand and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Ollie C. Robernette.
A memorial service for Mr. Cox will be conducted by Rev. Clay Waldrip, Saturday, Jan. 30 at 2p.m. at Pollard Funeral Home.
The family suggest memorials be made in his name to the charity of ones choice.
