John Crawford Barber, III, age 58, of Chester died August 14, 2013. He was the husband of Barbara Brock Barber and the son of Ms. Shirley Price Barber of Chester and Mr. John C. Barber, Jr. also of Chester. John is also survived by one son Carl James Barber of Chester; one daughter, Ashley Thomas of Chester; two brothers, Jeffery Barber of Edgefield and Jerry Barber of Norfolk, VA; three sisters, Jane Ellen Spotloe of Chester, Jean Ann Sisk of Richburg and Kay Wessinger of Chester; one grandchild Gage Jones. He was pre-ceded in death by two brothers, Carl and Jody Barber.

John was a Christian and of the Baptist faith and he was passionate about his hunting, fishing and riding his motorcycle. He enjoyed cooking and making special meals for his family.

The celebration of John's life will include a memorial service conducted at Pollard Funeral Home in Chester by Reverend Randall C. Runion at 11am Friday, August 16th, and immediately followed by a gathering of friends and family for a visitation.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials may be made to the John Barber Memorial Fund, c/o Spratt Savings and Loan, P O Box 579, Chester, SC 29706 or to Orrs Baptist Church.

The family is gathering at 1439 Peden Bridge Road in Chester.
