John Wallace Melton, age 72, of 2384 Boyd Road died Feb. 25, 2016. He was born in Chester to the late William and Leola Love Melton and he was the widow of Patricia Ann Fowler Melton.
Mr. Melton was retired from Springs Industries. He worked in both Eureka and Katherine Plants. He was a member of Branded 4 Life Cowboy Church.
He is survived by two sons, Michael Melton (Nikkie) of Chester and John Melton of Ft. Myers Florida; three daughters, Angie Melton of Gastonia, Wanda Darby (Eddie) of Chester, Tammy Lee of Forest City; one brother, Harold Melton of Chester; six sisters, Nannie Peay, Margaret Mobley, Dot Wattenbarger, Lillie Friendly and Judy Hefner all of Chester, and Ethel Wall, of Baltimore Maryland; 9 grandchildren and alarge number of great-grand-children. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Ruby Melton, Frankie Austin, Mary Lee Peay; three brothers Billy, Odell and Will Melton.
Visitation for Mr. Melton will be 6-8p.m. Friday at Pollard Funeral Home; the funeral will be 2p.m. Saturday at Branded 4 Life Cowboy Church, 1777 Old Mill Road, Richburg, SC 29729. Pastor Randy Bedford will officiate. The burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
The family is gathering at the home of his sister, Judy Hefner, 919 Redwood Lane in Chester
