John Wayne Sketoe, age 76, of Chester died February 27, 2016 in Charlotte at Carolinas Medical Center.

Mr. Sketoe was the husband of Virginia Hildreth Sketoe and the son of the late Dorothy Smith Taylor and step-son of the late James D. Taylor. He was predeceased by two brothers, James and Bennie Sketoe.

He retired from Spring's Industries, Katherine Plant. In addition to his wife his other passions were his dogs and dirt track racing. He raced at various tracks in this region with the number 37 on his blue and yellow Ford race cars.

In addition to his loving wife he is survived by his sister, Marlene Martin of Chester and his canine companion "Trouble".
