Johnny Lee Copeland, age 92, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 20, 2015. He would have celebrated his 93rd birthday on Friday, January 23. Mr. Copeland was a WWII Army combat veteran with a Purple Heart and two Bronze Battle Stars. He will be greatly missed by his family. Mr. Copeland was the husband of Bonnie Copeland of Chester and he was first married to the late Mamie Catledge Copeland. He was retired from Springs Industries - Springsteen Plant, a member of Fountain of Life Church of God, and he attended Sanctuary Hills Church of God in York.

Mr. Copeland's graveside service will be conducted by Pastor Ted Tinker, Thursday, January 22, at 1:00 o'clock in Chester Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the grave site immediately following the service.

Mr. Copeland is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Evans (Mike) of Chester and Virginia Roberts of York; brother and best friend, William Copeland (Dolly) of Blackstock; a nephew as close as a son, George Copeland (Tammy) of Swansea, SC; 4 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; great-grandaughters, Harleigh and Hayden; and seven other nieces and nephews that he loved as well. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary N. Poston and one grandson, Ricky L. Weir.

The family expresses gratitude to Mr. Copeland's doctor and staff of C.M Tucker, Jr. Nursing Care Center and suggests in lieu of flowers, memorial be made to Sanctuary Church of God or Tri County Hospice of SC, 166 Stoneridge Drive, Columbia, SC 29210.

The family members are at their respective homes.
