Obituary

Joyce Garrett Wilson, age 86, of 537 Sunrise Boulevard passed away Sunday June 12, 2016 at her home. She was born in Calhoun, Georgia to the late Leonard J. and Grace Roper Garrett.

Mrs. Wilson was the widow of Jerome Wilson, II and the mother of U.S. Army Col. (Ret) Jerome "Jerry" Wilson, III of Sanford, NC, R. Garrett Wilson of Chester, and Russell B. Wilson of Chapel Hill, NC, Thomas (Tom) L. Wilson of Venice Beach, Fl.; one daughter Sheila Grace Wilson Atkinson of Chester; thirteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was [preceded in death by one son Charles Edward Wilson; two brothers, James A. Garrett and Leonard J. Garrett, Jr.

A memorial service for Mrs. Wilson will be held at her graveside in historic St. Paul's Episcopal Church Yard in Pendleton, SC. The time and date for the memorial service will be announced later and updated here when the plans are arranged.

Mrs. Wilson was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Chester. She was a former President of Bishopville Junior Welfare League, former President of the Garden Study Club, former President of the Bishopville PTA, former President Women of the First Baptist Church in Bishopville, former Brownie Scout leader and had served as chairperson of the Alter Guild at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, former treasurer of Chester Arts Council and the former secretary of the Chester Swim Team.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Pendleton or the  Home of Episcopal Children in Ft. Mill, SC,
