Lawrence "Gene" Boulware, Sr., 81 passed away Tuesday. He was the son of the late James L. Boulware and Emma Stephenson Boulware Cornwell. He is survived by his children, Lawrence "Bodie" Boulware, Jr., Gina Ratcliffl, Crystal Greenwood; sister, Donna Lynn Ferrell Hovis; grandchildren, Devyn Greenwood, Jarad Ratcliff; great-grand daughter, Alexis Spurlock; brother-in-law & close friend, Donnie Hovis; nephew, Trey Hovis and family; and close friend, Neil Lee.

Gene was a retired life insurance agent in Chester and had received many professional awards in his career. He was a member of Lowrys Baptist Church. Gene was the 1982 IHRA drag racing champion of the Super Rod class.

The celebration of life will be officiated by Reverend Michael Shaffer, 3:00 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 15 in the chapel of Pollard Funeral Home. The family will receive friends afterwards in the parlor.
