The "prettiest girl on the beach" is now the prettiest girl in Heaven. Norma Estelle Roberts Taylor died on January 14, 2019 at White Oak Manor-York. Norma was the only daughter of Marion Douglas Roberts and Agnes Sanders Roberts. She was born on December 11, 1929 on the day her family moved from the Chester family farm to the new home in Lewis Turnout, SC.

Norma graduated from Lewisville High School where she played basketball and was a cheerleader. At Raleigh School of Commerce, she studied bookkeeping. Later she moved to Charlotte, NC and became a bookkeeper for Warner Brothers. Her company voted her Miss Warner Brothers.

Norma loved dancing and the beach. She danced the shag at the beach and the jitterbug at big band concerts. Once in Myrtle Beach, she caught the eye of the photographers who voted her "the prettiest girl on the beach".

During this time she met Hiero Louis Taylor, III. They married on February 17, 1951 and were married for eleven years.

She was an amazing mother and the strength of the family. She taught the two year old class in Sunday school. She worked for Grandmothers, taking care of infants. One of her greatest joys was moving to Kure Beach, NC to help raise her grandson Will.

Her surviving family includes her daughter Catherine Taylor Metz, her sons Marion Pepper Taylor and James Edwin Taylor, her grandson, William Louis Taylor and his wife Meghan; a brother, Reverend James Roberts and a treasured extended family.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved son Hiero L. Taylor, IV; her brothers Junior, Harold, Lee and Dick Roberts.

The family would like to thank the staff of White Oak Manor-York for their tender care of Norma.
