Pelham Ernest Doster, 82, of Chester, SC went home to be with his Lord on February 10, 2025 at his home while surrounded by his family.

He was born in McConnells, SC on June 5, 1942 to the late Pelham Jerome and Josie Mae (Dallas) Doster.

Ernest graduated from Chester High School and served in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War 1967-1969 and later in the SC State Guard. He retired from Essex after 34 years.

Ernest had a deep love and devotion for the Lord, he served his church tirelessly and was known for his love of racing and cars, particularly classics.  His favorite pastime since his retirement was doing yard-work and sitting on the porch with Bubba & Missie, his cats.

Ernest leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Terry Roof Doster; his children, Sherry Igou of Prairieville, La., Dewayne Doster (Becky), Michelle Varnadore (Scott) of Chester. Jennifer Owens (Sean) of Concord; grandchildren, Katie, Sarah (Austin) and Lydia Doster (Brandon), Cole Igou, Josh and Ruthie Varnadore and Doster Owens; sister, Beulah Doster Loftis of Eastover and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased in death by his brothers Bud and Richard Doster and sisters Lib McFalls and Ruth Williams.

The visitation will be 5-7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 13th at Pollard Funeral Home. Mr. Kenneth "Hutch" Hutchins will conduct the funeral at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February14th. at Wilkesburg Baptist Church. The burial will be in Chester Memorial Gardens. Pollard Funeral Home is serving the family.
