William Edward Gregory, Sr., of 833 Hawthorne Road passed away February 19, 2015 at his home.

The visitation for Mr. Gregory will be held 1:00p.m., Sunday, February 22 in the sanctuary of Parkway Baptist Church, the memorial service conducted by Reverend Jay Dorsey will follow at 2:00p.m. The burial will be private and held at a later date.

Mr. Gregory was born in Chester on January 26, 1931 to the late Clarence Edward and Elizabeth Jane Sturgis Gregory. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Margie Johnson Gregory of the home; one son, William E. Gregory, Jr. of Chester; three daughters, Sandra G. Crosby and her husband David of Chester, Cathy Gregory and her companion Tony McSwain of Stone Mt. Georgia, Melinda "Lindy" Gregory and her husband Alain Ranc of Dhahran, Saudi Arabia; two sisters, Gloria Burks of Fuquay Varina, NC, Dorothy Yates of San Francisco, California; 3 grandchildren, Michael Crosby, Greg Crosby, Melissa Libby Lengard and 3 great-grandchildren, Lauren and Jacob Crosby, Lylou Libby-Lengard. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ted Gregory; his sisters Elmira Del Charie, Kathleen Kee.

An active member of Parkway Baptist Church, he has held offices as Training Union Director, Deacon, Sunday school teacher, R.A. director and choir member.

Mr. Gregory attended schools in Chester County; was a 30 year member of the S.C. National Guard; a member of the S.C. State Guard; Past Master and Life Member of Chester Masonic Lodge 18. He was employed for 14 years at Carlisle Finishing Company and 20 years as Maintenance Supervisor at Chester Sportswear Company.
