Wylie M. Shugart, Jr. of Chester passed away Saturday in Columbia, SC. He was the husband of Kathleen D. Shugart and the father of Wylie M. Shugart III (Debra) of Seneca, SC, John Michael Shugart of Greenville, SC, Laura Shugart Sigman of Columbia, SC; one brother, Mike Shugart of Blair, SC; two sisters, Edith Laws and Ruth Gladden (Ross) both of Chester; 3 grandchildren, Jacob, Creelynn and Maddie Sigman, Eliza Shugart; 2 great-grand-children, Isbella and Hazel Jennings.

Mr. Shugart is predeceased by his parents, Wylie and Betty Smith Shugart, Sr. and his first wife, Crystal Caldwell Shugart.

Mr. Shugart was a former Chester firefighter, Eagle Scout and graduate of Chester High School. He was an avid NASCAR fan.  He was also a home repairman and carpenter.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made in Mr. Shugarts memory to MUSC Chester, 1 Medical Park Drive, Chester, SC 29706.

A gathering for family and friends will be held Tuesday evening 5-6:30 p.m. at Pollard Funeral Home.
