Alma Mobley Roof, 80, recent widow of Franklin Roof, passed away Thursday. She was born in Chester to the late John Harvey and Maggie Darby Mobley. She is survived by her three daughters, Wanda Nichols of Rock Hill, Tammy Mixon (Sammy) of Chester, Frankie Campbell (Mike) of Chester; five grandchildren Kelly Mathews, Victoria Chandler, Ashley Mixon, Amanda Crocker, D.J. Campbell; ten great-grandchildren; three brothers, Johnny Mobley (Elaine), William “Doodle” Mobley (Jackie) and David “Hoppy” Mobley (Judy) all of Chester; one sister, Nancy Keenan (Tommy) of Chester.
She was preceded in death by one daughter Teresa “Tisa” Roof; three brothers, Winfield, Zeddie and Phil Mobley and one sister, Magdalene James.
Mrs. Roof attended Wilksburg Baptist Church when her health allowed. She worked at the Katherine Plant in Chester for many years and for four years in a ladies dress shop in Inman, SC.
She loved every member of her family and had a very special and deep love for her grands and greats. She loved doing crafts, cooking for the family, working in her flower beds, decorating her yard for Christmas and having a clean house.
The visitation will be 3:00 – 3:55 p.m. Saturday, November 12th at Wilksburg Baptist Church. The celebration of life memorial service will begin at 4:00 p.m. and conducted by Rev. Seth Johnson.
