He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Lisa Lee, Charles Robert Day; one great-grandchild, Cory Lee; one sister, Elizabeth McBrayer; and one cousin reared as a sister, Mildred Byars.
Mr. Black was retired from Duke Power (now Duke Energy) and he served in the Army National Guard (Chester). He was a member of Ft. Lawn Church of God where he was known as the man to see when something needed repairing and singing an occasional special song on Sunday. He was known in the community as one that was a person of action like making emergency repairs for people and building handicapped ramps. He was once named the “Retiree of the Year for Duke Energy”.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials made in Mr. Blacks memory to the Ft. Lawn Church of God, P.O. Box 15, Ft. Lawn, SC 29714.
