On Thursday July 20, 2023, Dorothy McCorkle Hefner, 93, took her last breath on Earth and her first in Heaven. She was the widow of Wylie H. Hefner and the daughter of the late John T. and Sallie Small McCorkle. She is survived by one grandson, Bryan McCorkle (Christie) of Lancaster; four great-grandchildren, Zachary and Hannah McCorkle (Austin Crenshaw), Angel McCorkle, Cameron Parker; six great-great-grandchildren, Alaina, Briella, Bentley, Zachery & Brooklyn McCorkle, Jacob Arcuri.
She was preceded in death by one son and daughter in law, Terry McCorkle and Linda; one granddaughter, Terri Lynn Ernandez; three brothers, Ben Howard McCorkle, Robert Lee McCorkle and Earl Lee McCorkle; two sisters, Kitty Mae McCorkle Black and Tessie McCorkle Bailey.
Mrs. McCorkle was a retired weaver in the textile industry and a member of Heath Memorial United Methodist Church in Lando.
A family hosted memorial and celebration of her life will be held in the near future. The details will be updated here when available.
