Our beloved James “Taco” Anthony Brock, 64, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, November 9th—three years from the day his mama was called home. Born in Rock Hill, Tony was the son of the late Henrietta Baker Collins and the late Joe Brock. He was preceded in death by his son, Tony Brock.
Surviving is his son, Wesley Brock; seven cousins he regarded as siblings: Shannon (Randy) Hamrick, Stephanie (James) Hill, Steve (Anita) Hill, Dinky Hill, Brady (Phyllis) Adkins, Christine Childers, and Chris Adkins; one aunt, Becky (Don) McCorkle; four second cousins he regarded as grandchildren/children: Shyanne, Cameron, Faith, and Kaylee.
Full of radiating smiles and comical one-liners, Taco devoted his life to giving to others. He was a devout Christian who beautifully imitated the life of Jesus and embodied the definition of a Good Samaritan. As a devoted son to a loving mama, he could never have loved anyone more; she was his heart, and he was hers. As a phenomenal father to two sons, he loved them unconditionally and took pride in them.
A man of many hats, Taco was a father, a son, a grandfather, a friend, a handyman, and a true-crime detective. Taco’s loved ones were always at the forefront of his every action and thought. He never knew a stranger, though; everyone who was blessed to encounter him could feel an overwhelming sense of warmth and kindness. Without exception, he offered guidance, wisdom, and a helping hand. His gentle demeanor, kind perspective, and humorous antics could always diffuse tension or heal anyone’s pain. He had a particular fondness for all animals and his dogs, especially Sweet Pea. As the family paparazzi, he took joy in capturing all his cherished moments as well as the simple yet heartfelt things in life.
The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at Grace Church of the Nazarene in Rock Hill. The funeral service, officiated by Pastor Thom Harvey, will follow at 12:00 p.m. The burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery.
