James Robert Cowan, age 96, passed away May 15, 2020. Mr. Cowan was the widower of Shirley Fox Cowan. He was born in Kane Pennsylvania to the late Daniel and Anne Bovard Cowan. A proud veteran of World War II, Mr. Cowan served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corp. He was retired from his plumbing/heating/contracting business in Pennsylvania. He will be fondly remembered as sport fisherman on Lake Erie; pulling for the Pittsburg Steelers and UNC-Chapel Hill Tar Heel football teams.
He is survived by one daughter, Beverly Johnson (Philip) of Fredericksburg, Va.; one son, Bruce Cowan of Kane, Pa.; two grandsons, Michael Tunall (Vicky) of Chester, and Matthew Tunall, Manchester, Penn; two great-grand-children Jordan Tunall, Wyatt Tunall and one step-great-grand-child, Trevor Elliott; several nieces and nephews.
The family is gathering at the home of Michael and Vicky Tunall; 1319 Lowry’s Highway in Chester.
Mr. Cowan will be buried with his wife in Saint Callistus Cemetery in McKean County Penn. A celebration of Mr. Cowans life will be announced and held at a later time.
