On June 7, 2021 while surrounded by his family, Jimmy S. Owens went home to be with the Lord. He was born May 6, 1962 to Rebecca Horton Owens Edwards of Shelby, NC. and the late Steve Elbert Owens. He was the husband of Rebecca Garman Owens of the home.
Jimmy graduated from high school in Blacksburg, SC in 1980 and then served in the U.S. Army until 1985. He worked locally as an industrial maintenance electrician. Jimmy was an active member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans-Camp 86 in York, SC where he was the previous Camp Commander.
In addition to his mother and wife, Jimmy leaves behind one son, Steve Owens (Julie) of Gastonia; three daughters, Rebecca Owens of Texas and Stephanie Balasco (Ricky) of York and Heather (BJ) of Arkansas; grand-children, Nichole, Leighla, Daniel, Hunter, Siddalee, and Michael and soon to be born, Julia; one brother, Raymond Owens and two sisters, Paula Owens and Beth (Dean), and numerous nephews and nieces. Jimmy was preceded in death by one grand-son, Anthony Dellinger.
Visitation will be Thursday 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Pollard Funeral Home in Chester, the graveside funeral will be conducted by Pastor Barry Chatas at 11:00 a.m. Friday in Rose Hill Cemetery in York, SC.
