John R. Patrick, Sr., 86, passed away Tuesday. He was the husband of Mary Ann Vanderford Patrick and the son of the late Clyde R. and Mary Love Patrick. He is also survived by 3 sons, John R. Patrick, II (Wanda) of Chester, Scott Patrick of Jacksonville, Fl., Ricky Patrick (Roxanne) of Chester; 3 daughters, Teresa Johnson (Dave) of Richburg, Deborah Ernandez (Hughie) of Richburg, Karen Horne (Chris) of Richburg; 1 sister, Gladys Winters of Columbia, SC.; grandchildren, Travis White, John R. Patrick, III, Jason White, Michael Patrick, Miranda Broome, Jessica Ratterree, Erin Gladden, Leroy Patrick, Alicia Patrick, Logan Patrick, Dillon Ernandez, Stephen Patrick, Summer Rivera and Trinity Ratterree; 25 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild; special nieces, Joyce, June and Shirley: close friend and neighbor, Tommy Williams. Mr. Patrick was preceded in death by 1 brother, James Earl Patrick; 2 sisters, Helen Alexander and Christine Odom; 1 grandson, James White and 2 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Patrick was of the Nazarene faith. He was a family man always caring deeply for all of his family; he also had an endearing sense of humor. He retired from Springs Industries-Katherine Plant and then began working for the City of Chester where he retired again after 10 years of service.
Those wanting to view Mr. Patrick may do so Friday afternoon from 2 – 4 p.m. at Pollard Funeral Home. Those wanting to visit with the family may drop by the home at 19 East Elliott Street at any time. The graveside service will be conducted by Pastor Gerald Moss, 11 a.m. Saturday at Evergreen Cemetery in Chester.
