Margaret Gregory Brockman, age 93, passed away Friday, August 8 at Helms-Gordon Residential Care in Fort Lawn. She was the widow of James Wilson Brockman. Mrs. Brockman was born in Chester to the late Porter Worthy Gregory, Sr. and Martha Ellen Atkinson Gregory. She graduated from Chester Senior High School and attended Winthrop College. Mrs. Brockman was retired from the Farmers Home Administration in Chester and was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church where she served on numerous committees. She also got the most enjoyment out of singing in the choir at Bethel United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Brockman is survived by two daughters, Deborah Taylor of Rock Hill and Teresa Mann (Harvey) of Chester; one brother, Ralph Gregory (Peggy) of Chester; grand-children, Genya Robb Helms, Heather Robb Maleck (Jason), Matthew Carl Robb, Dana Taylor Sloan (Bobby), Leonard James ‘Buddy’ Mann (Angel), Rachel Mann Robinson (Chris) and Cicely Mann Mack (Chris) and 18 great-grand-children.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Ward Robb; granddaughter, Anne Taylor Reeves; and brothers, Charles, Edward, Porter, and Tom Gregory.
The graveside service celebrating the life of Mrs. Brockman will be conducted by Reverend Chris Snelgrove and Chaplin Carl Morton at 4:00 pm, Tuesday August 11th at New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorials be made to Helms-Gordon Residential Care or New Hope United Methodist Church.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Kay Gordon and the staff at Helms-Gordon Residential Care for the years of loving care that they provided for Mrs. Margaret and our family. Also a special thanks to Providence Care Hospice Team, thank you for seeing Mrs. Margaret through the final days of her journey here on Earth.
