Melba Thomas, age 87, of Pinkney Road passed away in the presence of her loving family on the morning of August 31, 2020. She was the widow of Frank Thomas and the daughter of the late James G. and Nora Elizabeth Hampton. Mrs. Thomas is survived by; her son and his wife, Scott and Susan Thomas of Chester; her grand-sons, Wyatt Grant Thomas and Gus Jennings Thomas, both of Chester; one sister, Iris Bostic of Mississippi and Norma Jean Morrison (Wylie) of Richburg; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings; Don, Gordon, and Wayne Hampton; Naomi Williams and Hazel Wilkes.
Mrs. Thomas was a retired cosmetologist and she also worked hard for many years farming alongside Mr. Thomas. She was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church.
The family thanks the faithful and loving caregivers without whom help her staying in her home would not have been possible. They are Julie McCormick, Cassie Davis, Emma Chisholm, Donna McGarity, Debra Brice, Brett Church, Jennifer Smith, Shana Gulish and Abby Gulish.
Mr. Mark Wyatt will conduct the graveside service, 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family suggests memorial in lieu of flowers be made to Agape Care of SC, 1639 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
