Michael was born on August 28, 1957 to Ronald and Mary Jo Pohl (Murray) in Davenport, Iowa. He graduated from DC Everest High school in Schofield, Wisconsin in 1975. Following high school, he obtained a Bachelor of Science from the school of business at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.
After college, he embarked on a long career in the field of pharmaceutical sales, working for various companies throughout the Midwest. He transitioned to multiple administrative roles in sales and business administration, proving to be a mentor to countless employees across various regions and companies throughout his career. One of his greatest joys came from the work of building relationships in his various professional networks, a talent that he brought to each role in which he found himself, to the great benefit of his colleagues throughout the years.
His most recent professional endeavor was as Vice President of Business Development for Origin Life Sciences, Inc. His time at Origin again brought him a great many lifelong friends, who will surely miss his forward-oriented focus, quick smile, and seemingly endless stories.
Michael will be remembered most dearly by his family and friends for his unfailing interest in creating joyful experiences for others. Whether supporting family and friends, hosting a dinner for a big game, or just planning a meal for family, Mike would never hesitate to pull out all the stops to provide an incredible experience for any and all involved. He never once counted the cost to himself, thinking only of what he could give to others.
Michael brought a positive outlook and a dreamer’s mindset to every challenge that he faced during his life. Despite the ups and downs that the world may throw our way, or the adversity he faced on his adventure through life, he never lost his faith in Christ. A favorite saying of Michael’s was “Never give up, never surrender!” – a quote from the movie Galaxy Quest, one of his many favorites. Michael will be fondly remembered by all who knew him for his inability to find a movie he didn’t love.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Mary Jo Pohl (Murray), along with his sister-in-law Theresa Pohl.
He is survived by his children, Travis (Jennifer), Joshua (Hailey), Colin, Benjamin (Rachel) and Taylor-Marie; as well as his grandchildren Mac, Maisey, Braylan, Brecklan, Jackson, Jordan, Parker, Albert, Zelie, Korbinian, Maximilian, and Dominic; along with his siblings; brothers Jeffery (Kelly), David (Eve), Stephen (Melody), Ronald, and his sister Susan. He is also survived by his wife Judy and countless other friends, family, and loved ones.
