Raymond Curtis Maree, 90, passed away Saturday. He was the husband of Loretta Aldridge Maree. He was born in Lancaster to the late Fitzhugh L. and Daisy Ellis Maree. He served his country during the Korean War as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army and was retired from Springs Industries-Katherine Plant. He then worked as a security guard for a local plant. Mr. Maree was a Christian and attended church in the Church of God. He also loved fishing, watching NASCAR and the Atlanta Braves all while enjoying his favorite snack, peanut butter crackers.
Mr. Maree is survived by two daughters, Janice Smith and Sylvia Mobley; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren; a special niece, Anita Hinson and numerous other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Wanda Maree Harris; one sister, Leona Wade; and two brothers, Billy and Lucian Maree.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mr. Maree will be held 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 16, 2021 with military honors in the chapel of Pollard Funeral Home.
